A) Walloon exportations to the UAE:
The United Arab Emirates are the 31st commercial partner of Wallonia (2013).
On that year, Walloon exportations towards the UAE have amounted to about 130 million euros.
At the regional level (near and Middle East), the United Arab Emirates rank as the second client to Wallonia, immediately after Saudi Arabia.
The main exported products are:
a) chemical and pharmaceutical sector
b) steel and metal products
c) equipment and industrial machinery
d) building materials and natural stones
e) plastic materials
B) Walloon investments and establishment in UAE:
These include, among the dozens of companies present in the UAE, Coprabel, Ateliers Francois et Fils, Galler, Spantech,FN, Market IP and very recently the company DAWN FOOD.
C) Promotion activities of Wallonia in the UAE in 2015:
Our region is very active in the Gulf countries in general and in the UAE in particular.
It is in the UAE that we have the highest density of shares. Below is the list of our activities in 2015:
- Participation in the Arab Health exhibition (Dubai, January) as a collective stand bringing together about fifteen Walloon companies.
- Participation in the trade fair Gulfood (Dubai, February) as a pavilion gathering more or less fifteen Walloon companies.
- Participation in Cabsat Fair (Dubai, March) as a collective stand clustering a dozen of Walloon companies.
- Participation of 50 Walloon companies in the Belgian economic mission headed by HRH Princess Astrid in UAE (24th, 25th and 26th of March 2015). Organization of collective visits and B2B meetings.
- Participation in the exhibition Big5 Show (Dubaï, November) as a collective stand bringing together about fifteen Walloon companies.
Moreover, the most important Belgian military equipment companies/weapon manufacturers are Walloon and have taken part in the Abu Dhabi International Defense exhibition (Idex, February).
